Acky Bright Discusses GalaXic Baseball Manga at NYCC 2026

Manga artist Acky Bright appeared at New York Comic Con 2026 to discuss his new series, the GalaXic Baseball League. The project originated from an idea by the MLB Players Association and required extensive contract negotiations before production began. Bright envisions the current tournament arc spanning approximately five volumes, with potential for additional seasons exploring the broader league.

The story features powered suits that grant players special abilities, such as those seen with José Ramírez. Bright emphasizes accessibility for both baseball fans and newcomers, aiming to create a narrative that appeals to children and adults alike. He treats all characters equally, allowing team dynamics to drive the hero of each game rather than focusing on individual stars like Shohei Ohtani.

Bright also addressed the visual design of Team GAIA, noting their initial run-down appearance reflects their underdog status before undergoing a full renovation. He expressed satisfaction in balancing his artistic duties with storytelling, describing the process as natural given his background. The interview highlighted his commitment to including wacky, unexpected moments within the sports framework.
