I’m Dating a Dark Summoner Anime Review: Ecchi Highlights and Animation Notes

The anime adaptation of I’m Dating a Dark Summoner has aired, featuring an uncensored broadcast on HIDIVE that distinguishes it from typical censored releases. The series follows Roni, a devout priest who clashes with Amona, a dark summoner characterized by golden horns and a voluptuous appearance. Forced to share accommodations due to party dynamics, the two navigate significant sexual tension that evolves into romantic involvement. The narrative explores themes of religious fanaticism versus compassion as Roni’s initial hostility gives way to intimacy.

While the animation is described as slow and budget-conscious, the character expressions remain expressive rather than static. The voice cast, comprised largely of R18 specialists and newcomers, delivers performances noted for their immersion and emotional depth despite the challenging nature of the material. The show balances comedic elements with adult-oriented storytelling, offering explicit content without depicting penetration. This approach aims to satisfy viewers seeking ecchi-heavy entertainment while maintaining narrative engagement through character development and social commentary regarding belief systems.
