My Ex-Boyfriend Loves Boys’ Love Volume 1 Review

Square Enix Manga has released the first volume of Mugiimo’s romantic comedy series, My Ex-Boyfriend Loves Boys’ Love. The story follows twenty-four-year-old office worker Momo Akado, who encounters her former high school boyfriend, Suzuya Katakura, while browsing the Boys’ Love section of a bookstore. Both characters are ardent fans of the genre and produce doujinshi under separate one-woman group handles.

The narrative explores their reconnection as they discover shared interests in specific character pairings and fan works. Set against the backdrop of the Comiket convention scene, the manga blends four-panel comedy with moments of genuine character development. The release features translation by Sawa Matsueda Savage and lettering by Dietrich Premier, including bonus content such as a character feature page and translation notes.
