Ar tonelico II Fan Patch Restores Voices and Adds Hard Mode

The fan translation group Project Metafalica 2.0 has released a comprehensive retranslation for the PlayStation 2 role-playing game Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica. Led by translator Fiora, this extensive project required over a year to complete and fully rewrites the game’s approximately 550,000-word script by hand. The patch builds upon technical infrastructure established by the original 2016 Project Metafalica release while introducing significant new features.

Key additions include the restoration of the Japanese voice track, which incorporates dialogue previously cut from the English localization. The update also introduces an optional Hard difficulty mode, in-game karaoke subtitles with singable English lyrics for Luca’s “Hartes ciel, melenas walasye,” and translated background elements for Song Magic. Furthermore, the team addressed numerous technical issues, fixing battle crashes involving Raki, correcting stat scaling problems, and resolving event trigger errors. Players can now access a Prototypes section to view unused content and utilize a Cosmosphere Replay feature that allows modification of DP values to explore failure paths.
