Yoichi Miyajo’s Under Mythos JRPG Announced for 2028

KADATH, the production company led by veteran producer Yoichi Miyaji, has announced its debut title, Under Mythos. This 2D dark fantasy JRPG is scheduled for release in 2028 on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.

The game initially follows a lost cat working at a mysterious hot spring before shifting into cosmic horror as the world descends into madness. Miyaji draws inspiration from the Cthulhu mythos, specifically the deity Azathoth, alongside concepts from quantum cosmology regarding universal consciousness. The narrative also incorporates elements from H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness, including Elder Things and Shoggoths.

Miyaji connects the rebellion of Shoggoths to contemporary anxiety surrounding artificial intelligence, exploring themes of creations escaping human control. While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the developer aims to evoke an overwhelming presence lurking behind the shadows without explicit explanation.
