Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Vanadis Heart Manga Volumes 1 and 2 Released

Yen Press has released the first two volumes of the Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Vanadis Heart manga, with no scheduled release date announced for subsequent installments. This spin-off series shifts focus from the original anime's protagonists to Dr. Vilda Miren and her young assistant, Kiyu Lavot.

The narrative begins following the Vanadis Incident massacre, where the Mobile Suit Development Council seized control of Gundams and attacked Folkvangr Base. Vilda, a researcher previously associated with the Vanadis Institute, continues her work on GUND technology while evading authorities who view her as a suspect. She travels in a mobile lab with Kiyu, attempting to educate him amidst their fugitive status.

The story explores themes of war's consequences and moral ambiguity. It highlights the dangers of advanced weaponry like the Gundam Lfrith Jiu when used impulsively by a child, contrasting this with Vilda’s efforts to guide Kiyu’s understanding of right and wrong.
