Final Fantasy XIV Updates Fan Merch Guidelines, Bans AI and 3D Printing

Square Enix has updated the Final Fantasy XIV Materials Usage License to permit non-commercial physical fan-made goods, a category previously prohibited. The revised policy requires creators to personally produce items and include a link or QR code directing to the new guidelines on the merchandise itself.

The update explicitly forbids using generative AI or 3D printing for these creations. While general commissions are banned, exceptions allow for business cards featuring character details and stickers based on personal illustrations or screenshots containing the player's avatar. Depictions mimicking official merchandise remain strictly forbidden.
