1999 Tokoyo Building Horror Visual Novel Gets Steam Demo Ahead of November Release

A playable demo for the upcoming horror visual novel 1999 Tokoyo Building has been made available on Steam. The full title is scheduled to launch on November 10 for Windows PC. Developed by the independent studio TOKOYO FUDOSAN and published through Kodansha Game Creator’s Lab, the game invites players to experience its narrative before the official release.

The story centers on Akira Hiruyuki, an amnesiac individual with lockpicking expertise who is forced into labor at a decaying indoor amusement park called Tokoyo Building. Surrounded by eccentric staff members harboring dark secrets, Akira must use his skills to investigate their private quarters. By uncovering hidden information, he aims to build relationships that will eventually allow him to escape the facility.

The demo provides access to the first chapter, which takes approximately two hours to complete. Gameplay combines point-and-click exploration within low-poly environments with traditional visual novel dialogue segments. Players must balance knowledge acquisition with discretion to avoid detection while navigating interactions with dangerous coworkers.
