University of Tokyo Picks First Female President Despite Her Getting Half as Many Votes as Rival
The University of Tokyo will have its first female president in its nearly 150-year history, and the historic appointment has unsurprisingly become controversial: Yuko Fujigaki was selected despite receiving roughly half as many votes as the candidate who finished first in an internal faculty and staff poll.
