Fender Japan Releases Pokémon Red and Green Guitars for 30th Anniversary
Fender Japan has unveiled two custom guitars to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Japanese releases, Pokémon Red and Green. The collaboration features a Made in Japan Pokémon “Red Version” Stratocaster and a Made in Japan Pokémon “Green Version” Telecaster. Each instrument displays pixel art of Fire-type and Grass-type Pocket Monsters on its body, with Poké Ball designs scattered across the necks and a commemorative plate on the back.
Beyond their visual design, the instruments include an “8-Bit Sound System Mode.” Activating this feature via the volume knob produces a chiptune-like audio effect suitable for covering classic game soundtracks. Both models are priced at 396,000 yen each and come with pixel art picks, a custom hard case, and a certificate of authenticity. Limited quantities will be available through a lottery system at the Pokémon Center Online store from November 19 to November 24.
