Avatar: Seven Havens Co-Creator Calls Series a Mystery Epic Like 'Lost

Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creator Michael DiMartino recently described the new sequel series, Avatar: Seven Havens, as the franchise's first dedicated mystery show. Speaking on the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast, DiMartino explained that a primary goal was to incorporate ongoing mysteries similar to those found in the television series Lost. He noted that the narrative is designed to leave viewers initially disoriented, with the story gradually answering questions about the world's state and character backgrounds.

The series premiered on Paramount+ on October 9, set approximately two centuries after The Legend of Korra. It follows a young Earthbender who becomes the new Avatar in a post-apocalyptic era where the title signifies destruction rather than salvation. According to DiMartino, the plot centers on twins uncovering their origins while civilization collapses.
