CBR Highlights 10 Forgotten Mecha Anime Masterpieces

CBR Anime has published a listicle identifying ten mecha anime series that are considered masterpieces despite being largely forgotten by modern audiences. The article contrasts these overlooked titles with dominant franchises like Mobile Suit Gundam and Neon Genesis Evangelion, arguing that the featured shows offer deeper explorations of political conflict, loneliness, and the personal costs of heroism.

The selection includes Space Runaway Ideon, which examines cosmic energy and war; Dai-Guard, a satire involving office politics and giant robots; and The Big O, a noir mystery set in a memory-loss city. Other entries highlighted are Zegapain, Overman King Gainer, Argento Soma, Gasaraki, Special Armored Battalion Dorvack, Blue Gender, and Panzer World Galient. Each series is described as offering unique narrative depth or stylistic innovation distinct from mainstream genre staples.
